I have enjoyed Chrissy’s classes immensely as she keeps class exciting with the variety of poses and props and support for wherever my ability level is that particular day. In Chrissy’s classes we never take anything too seriously, everything is possible and laughter abounds. There is a true camaraderie among the class members.

I have practiced yoga off and on when my busy work schedule has permitted since the year after I finished active treatment for Breast Cancer at age 51. Having classes with Chrissy was a wonderful experience. She immediately put me at ease. She interacted with the class in a very informal manner and made it all feel so easy and accepting.
At times I wondered if she was able to read our minds because she seemed to be able to sense what the group needed on any given day and then proceeded to teach in that manner seamlessly. I have missed our regularly occurring classes and haven't yet found my way back to a regular practice since Chrissy stopped teaching at the Sutter Women's Health Center. I am still hoping to reconnect with Chrissy because I really feel like she knows how to teach the kind of classes I need at this time of my life.

Chrissy is an incredible instructor. From the moment I entered her class she made me feel comfortable and welcomed. Even though she had a very established group of students, I never felt like an outsider. I had taken an introductory yoga course before, but I was still very much a novice. Chrissy adeptly led the class, giving clear instructions for moving from pose to pose, so it was easy for someone with a limited background to follow along. When I needed a little direct instruction, she never made me feel foolish or singled me out for doing poses incorrectly, but instead gently helped me find the correct movement. Chrissy was very responsive to the needs of the class and would often work with our requests to focus on a specific area, or to work on restorative instead of pushing ourselves into a sweat, but we always left feeling as if we'd done something beneficial for our bodies regardless of the curriculum. Chrissy also fostered a feeling of camaraderie amongst her students and many came to her class as much for the socialization as for the exercise.

I try to think about everything I say and also try not to read into things…to pay more attention to what I buy and own…and it really made me think about who I am as a person.

I learned about the little things to keep in mind, how to be present where you are, how to think about what you’re doing, how everything is inter-related, how everything that affects you also affects others.
Drew, Age 25
I really plan on being more aware of myself in context to others, what is it that they want or need from me and what I am giving. Sometimes I think I give too much in the wrong direction and that goes to waste; there is a much wider world that that action or intention can be directed toward, also by directing that energy inward I can be strong and accomplish more to contribute to the larger world.
