Tips on How to Make Your Summer Vacation a Green One
WHAT: Over the past few years, more people are taking their green prowess on the road, especially during the summer time. Many are making reservations at green hotels and taking the family to a green restaurant. So now that it is summer and vacation time is just around the corner, how do we go about making these decisions when we leave the comforts of home?
Chrissy Gruninger, author of An Intentional Life and owner of forHarmony.net will be on hand to give you and your family tips on helping the environment when you take that trip. Here a just a few tips Chrissy gives her readers on her website about travel:
Do’s:
- Do your research on hotels to find out what they are doing to boost their green efforts.
- If you are going camping or a hike in the woods, remember that you’re in someone else’s house
- Set an example for others (carbon offsets, bringing your own reusable water bottle, coffee mug or bag)
Don’t:
- When hiking, never use flash photography on animals.
- Never touch a wild animal; keep a safe distance at all times. Never feed them or leave food out.
- Waste resources – Just like at home, be mindful of water usage, electricity and air conditioning.
Chrissy recently re-launched the online edition of her book An Intentional Life. She is currently taking pre-orders for the printed version due out this fall. The book has full color photographs on each page that combines narration and photography. In the book, she asks the reader to consider all inhabitants on our precious planet and to make kind choices in their daily actions. For any purchase of the book or at the forHarmony store, Chrissy will donate 10% to various organizations that preserve nature and wildlife.
